The Newberry, South Carolina area offers many options for off road cyclists. A Newberry park, a nearby national forest, and a portion of a state wide trail system give bicyclists great opportunities to enjoy their sport. Some trails are also open to hikers and horseback riders. Here are some popular bike trails to try in the Newberry area. Lynch’s Woods Park is located just east of Newberry off Highway 76. The 276 acre park contains 7.5 miles of single track mountain bike trail. The trail winds through the wooded property and is of moderate difficulty, climbing short hills and crossing several small streams. Hikers may also use the trail. In addition, a three mile section of the Palmetto Trail is found in Lynch’s Woods Park. This state wide recreational trail will cover 425 miles when completed and will connect the mountains of the Upstate to the coast. The trail is designed to be multi use and is open to hikers, bikers, and equestrians. The opening of this section of the Palmetto Trail has attracted a wider group of users to the park.
