The shoe designers in all their infinite creativity took one look at men's shoes and realized there really was only one solution. The Nike running shoes do seem to be generally quite pricey, but after owning dozens of pairs of Nikes over a lifetime, I can vouch that they are well worth it. These shoes are more for protection and/or warmth than foot support. This shoe has a strap going over the toes, a ruffled design going up the foot and a strap going around the ankle. These spots are caused by an excess amount of manufacturer's cement, and though it's rare for the markings to occur along any portion of the item except along a seam edge, there's no way to completely remove the adhesive without damaging the fabric. Plywood isn't a good tap surface because it's bad for the joints and may splinter.
