Going through bumpy roads, the mount starts rattling loudly, which is also annoying. Other than that, it is a good product that helps me focus on the road.
He says that’s great but he wishes the suction cup was as good as this one. This mount is top quality very versatile.
Other than that, it’s a decent price and is adjustable to just about every position. It works great and holds iTouch, Thunderbolt, and Garmin to the window. EVO 4G owners, this is the clip for you. I’m not saying that other smartphone owners (Droid, Droid-X, Droid-2, iPhone) cannot use this in fact I dare say it’s the best mount for any of those phones – but I have an EVO and it’s PERFECT.
The only thing I can’t do when it is mounted is pull out the phone’s keyboard and type while driving. But only a lunatic would try to do that anyway. For me, it’s not a big issue. Quality is at par with my expectations. I actually use this attached to my CD player section as I never use it. It works just as well as it did on the AC vent (I moved it because it gets way too hot here to only have one vent pointed at you and I felt bad using the passenger side vent). I tried my Garmin Nuvi 750 GPS in the mount as well, and even though that is a fairly large GPS, it fit perfectly; again not blocking the USB port or the on/off switch. Where I live it is still pretty cool in the morning, so I have not tried the vent mount, but it looks as though it should work pretty well. Windshield mount looks good. Vent mount looks flimsy.
Though it does not look as sleek as some other high end mounts do, the quality of this product is at par with them. It also comes with the mount for the AC vent but I did not try that out yet. The swivel ball is also poorly designed. When mounted in a vent, which notoriously won’t be very close to you, the mount will not allow the phone so swivel left/right far enough to have a clear direct view of the device.
That’s my only real gripe about it and not a deal breaker by any means. Another thing I like about this is that the ball socket joint allows you to use the phone in either portrait or landscape mode which is nice. The Thunderbolt is a large, heavy phone with a side micro-USB charger port. I had some concerns with other universal car mounts because of the charger port location.
I have a Honda Pilot and HTC Thunderbolt. The window mount works well. Overall, it’s very good quality. At this price, I hoped I was getting a deal on a mount for my Samsung Droid Charge, but the left arm completely blocks the USB so you cannot use a car charger with this mount.
