Banksy may be British, but his stunts are now famous all over the world. Having done some pretty memorable stunts in his time, we take a look at some of his greatest works.

Fake Art in New York Galleries 2006

Banksy managed to fix his own pieces of controversial artwork to the gallery walls of some of New York’s most important art galleries and museums. Temporarily fixing them alongside other exhibits, Banksy’s own pieces featured a primitive rock drawing of a shopping trolley, a Tesco Value soup painting (Andy Warhol style) and a beetle fixed with rockets instead of arms. It is believed that these, as well as his stunts in London galleries, were his way of mocking the art world.

Occupy London Monopoly Board 2011

When in November the Occupy London Movement started making themselves known, Banksy decided to show his support of the protesters by erecting his own stunt to symbolise his attitude towards ‘greedy bankers’. This 3-dimentional structure featured a fibre-glass broke Mr Moneybags, large playing pieces and board which were also placed outside St Paul’s Cathedral.

News Corp Phone Hacking 2011

Again right on the ball, Banksy wasted no time in interpreting his feelings towards the recent News of the World phone hacking scandal. Placed on a wall with a real tap, Banksy drew a crude stick man exclaiming ‘Oh no… my phone’s been tapped’ next to the tap which was ‘ringing’.

News Corp Phone Hacking 2011

An artist very much influenced by current affairs, earlier this year Banksy wasted no time in defacing a wall with a picture of a stick man exclaiming ‘On no… my tap’s been phoned’ right next to a real tap protruding out of the wall with the words ‘Brinngg! Brinngg!’ above.
